Bona Carls 45 Flooring Oil is in the following categories Bona Kemi Oils & Lacquers - Floor Oils And Lacquers - Bona Kemi Oils

The Carl’s Oil range of flooring oils are based on natural Pine oil, the number in the name refers to the solids content of the product. The inspiration behind this range of oils is that there are three steps towards an attractive and long lasting oiled wood floor.
Carl’s 90 and 45 provide a matt, natural appearance while enhancing the natural variation within the timber. Carl’s Hardwax Oil gives a shinier surface with wax protection. As Carl’s Oils can have varying effects, depending on the timber species, we would recommend that samples are prepared prior to treating a floor.
Carl’s 90 is a hardening oil containing less that 55% solvents, intended for the surface treatment of untreated wood floors exposed to normal or heavy wear. Due to its longer open time (compared to Carl's 90) larger areas can be treated. With incresed solvent the oil dried slowly allowing for more time to apply the oil
Waiting times between coats: 30 - 45 minutes
Coverage: Approximately 4-8m² per litre depending upon timber species
Best applied using a floor mop but a brush or roller can also be used. Apply the oil generously to the floor to give an even, 'wet' surface. After 20 minutes, spread the surplus oil to very absorbent areas. It may be necessary to add more to get an even finish. Wait for around 30 - 45 minutes. Do not let the oil dry. Repeat until the surface will not absorb any further oil. This will depend upon the type of wood but 2 - 3 treatments are normally enough. However no more than 0.25 litres per M² should be applied. Around 30 - 45 minutes after the final application, the surplus oil should be buffed in alternate directions using a buffing machine (150rpm) and a Bona Oil pad. Immediately after buffing, any surplus oil should be removed with a rubber scraper and/or cotton cloth. Edges and corners should be dried by hand using a cotton cloth.
Let the oil dry for 12 - 18 hours. During this time, foot traffic should be avoided. Buff the flooring using a buffing machine (300rpm if possible) and a red pad. Buff the floor with a dry cotton cloth under the pad. If the floor looks patchy, add a small amount of oil to the cloth, place it under the machine and buff the floor. One hour later, buff again. This process may be repeated in order to achieve a slightly incresed surface sheen. To give the oil time to cure, the floor should be allowed to dry for 24 hours without any foot traffic.
