    <description>Electric Underfloor Heating

Electric underfloor heating is the very latest in heating solutions for your home, Flexel Ecofilmset provides the luxury of wood floor electric underfloor heating to living rooms, bedrooms, hallways loft conversions and conservatories or almost any where a laminate or real wood flooring is being laid. The system is laid directly beneath your wooden flooring and radiates heat upwards. The result of this type of underfloor heating is that the whole room is heated and not just the area around the radiator, eliminating cold spots in the room.

There are also tile electric underfloor heating systems and underfloor screed systems which operate in much the same way, each system controlled by a wall mounted thermostat which allows you to adjust the temperature of the room to suit you.

The electric underfloor heating systems shown are available in sizes to fit floors of any shape or size.

For a quick and easy grid to plan your room or you may like to print out our Electric underfloor Heating System Planning Form. Please be sure to include any large or heavy pieces of furniture in the room.

<title>Electric Underfloor Wood Floor Carbon Heating Mats</title>
<description>Electric Underfloor Wood Floor Carbon Heating Mats

This electric underfloor heating system is available in strips which can be cut to length to suit any floor.
The complete electric underfloor heating solution for all laminate andamp; timber floors.

Ecofilmset underfloor heating is Easy To Lay
EcofilmSet, is supplied in 3 different widths (300mm, 500mm and 1000mm) andamp; standard lengths between 2m andamp; 10m in 0.5m increments. Just select the roll width and nearest lengths to provide maximum floor coverage. Installation is completely dry and is a simple unrolling process.
Quick Installation
EcofilmSet comes pre-wired. Only a simple 2 wire electrical mains connection is required to provide gentle and safe heating comfort. EcofilmSet is rated at 130W/m2. However, power ratings of 100W/m2 andamp; 160W/m2 are available on special order.
Freedom Of Installation
EcofilmSet elements are ultra thin and have a minimum effect on finished floor levels; an important consideration when laying floating floors. It can be laid on most subfloors; concrete or timber when used in conjunction with Depron or Ecomax-Lite Thermal Insulation.
Electric Underfloor heating Guarantee
EcofilmSet comes with a 10 year guarantee against manufacturing defects.
Floor Construction
Before laying the EcofilmSet on either a suspended wooden floor or concrete sub-floor it is necessary to install a layer of Ecomax-Lite Thermal Insulation. This will minimise heat losses and ensure quicker heat-up times for the floor. It will also act as a means of sound deadening which is required for laminate floors.
Next roll out the pre-cut lengths of EcofilmSet uderfloor heating taking care to locate the “cold tails” on the wall nearest the thermostat connection box. Trim to length as required and insulate trimmed ends as per instructions before taping the element into position. Never overlap the heating surfaces. Cover the total EcofilmSet installation with a layer of Polyester Vapour Barrier (PVB25) before laying the chosen floor covering.

Electrical Requirements
EcofilmSet Underfloor Heating Elements are very simple to install by following the comprehensive instruction booklet included with each element kit.
 * The final electrical connections should be made by a qualified electrician in accordance with the current wiring regulations.
 * All installations require a 30mA RCD (residual current device) for safe operation.
 * All elements require connection to the thermostat via a standard junction box.
 * EcofilmSet is approved to the relevant International standard approval EN60335-2-96.

Primary Heat Source and Running Costs
Heat loss calculations should be performed before useing Ecofilmset as the sole source of heating. Consult your architect or heating engineer. As a guide however if your room complies with the insulation standards in current building regulations, Ecofilmset can be used as a primary heating source. Rooms with potentially high heat losses like conservatories may need a supplimentary heat source on very cold days.

The Running Costs associated with Ecofilmset electric underfloor heating can be related directly to the floor heat-up times. A well insulated sub-floor will significantly reduce heat losses, improve heat up times and reduce running costs. Even on insulated floors (concrete or wood) a minimum or 6mm Ecomax-lite or Depron thermal insulation should be used in conjunction with EcofilmSet.

Example:
A 6sqm floor in a lounge fitted with 6mm of Ecomax-lite or Depron Thermal insulation on top of an insulated concrete sub-floor would cost approximately 3.5p* per square metre per day to run. This is based on the heating system being on twice a day for a 2hr and 5hr period respectively. This assumes a 50% duty cycle once the floor has reached temperature and assumes a cost of 8.0p per KwH.
(*=Cost estimate given is an approximation only. Running costs vary depending on heat losses in individual rooms.)

EcoFilm underfloor heating is a flexible heating element it is the ideal solution for providing an economic electric underfloor heating solution for
Laminate flooring, Timber floating floors, Carpet, Luxury Vinyl floor coverings
The product is ultra thin, robust and is used as a dry lay system to heat under the following floor coverings.

<title>Electric UnderFloor Heating Cable Mat System 160W and 200W</title>
<description>Electric UnderFloor Heating Cable Mat System 160W and 200W

Ecofloor Underfloor Heating Mats
Ecofloor Underfloor Heating Mats are a combination of self-adhesive mesh with a heating cable pre-attached. The mat design enables fast installation and an even heat distribution across the whole floor. Ecofloor Underfloor Heating Mats are 500mm wide and available in a range of lengths.

Ecofloor Underfloor Heating Mats have a twin conductor cable simplifying installation with a single 3m “cold tail” connection.

The finished installation is controlled using an easy to use programmable thermostat.
Ecofloor Underfloor Heating Mats are available in 160W/m2 or 200W/m2 heat outputs. The 160W/m2 mat is suitable for internal applications including kitchens, bathrooms andamp; living areas. The 200W/m2 mat is recommended for conservatories or areas prone to high heat losses.

Electrical Requirements
Ecofloor Underfloor Heating Mats are very simple to install by following the comprehensive instruction booklet included with each cable mat.

The final electrical connections should be made by a qualified electrician in accordance with the current wiring regulations.
All installations require a 30mA RCD (residual current device) for safe operation.
Rooms requiring more than two mats require connection to the thermostat via a standard junction box.

Electric Heating Mat Installation and Floor Construction
Ecofloor can be installed on top of either suspended timber or solid concrete floors enabling installation in all room types. Ecofloor can also be installed under many floor coverings including:

Ceramic
Natural stone
Slate
Quarrystone
Porcelain
Marble
Limestone
Terracotta

Suspended Floors
When fitting Ecofloor to a timber sub-floor it is essential that you take the standard precautions to stabilise the floor and prevent floor movement. You must always over-board the timber floorboards or chipboard with a surface suitable for tiling. Flexel recommend Ecomax Insulated Tile Backer Board or primed 18mm WBP Plywood.

Solid Floors
For best performance it is recommended before fitting Ecofloor you fit a layer of Ecomax Insulated Tile Backer Board. This will minimise heat losses andamp; ensure quicker heatup times for the floor. Ecofloor can be laid directly onto an un-insulated floor However this will slow heatup times, increase running costs andamp; is not recommended.

10 Year Guarantee
Ecofloor comes with a 10 year guarantee against manufacturing defects.

How Effective is Under Tile Heating?
Ecofloor is a highly effective direct acting radiant heating system. It can provide primary heating or just be used to warm a floor and provide background heat.
Heat loss calculations should be calculated by your architect or heating engineer. As a guide however, if your room complies with the insulation standards in current building regulations Ecofloor can be used as a primary heating source. Rooms with potentially high heat losses like conservatories may need a supplementary heat source in very cold days.

Heat up Times and Running Costs
The speed of response of your Ecofloor undertile heating system depends on several factors including sub-floor construction and tile material and thickness.

The running costs associated with ecofloor can be related directly to the floor heat-up times. A high quality thermal barrier like ecomax insulated tile backer board will significantly slow the process of heat losses into the sub-floor, improve performance and reduce the initial warm-up time therefore reducing the energy consumption.

A 2.5sqm floor in a bathroom fitted with ecomax insulated tile backer board on top of an insulated concrete sub-floor would cost approximately 7p* per day to run. This is based on the heating system being on twice a day for two hours each time and assumes a 50% duty cycle once the floor had reached temperature and assumes a cost of 8p per KwH.
(* = cost estimate given is an approximation only. Running costs vary depending on heat losses in individual rooms.)

<title>Underfloor electric Screed Floor Heating Kit</title>
<description>Underfloor electric Screed Floor Heating Kit

The complete electric underfloor heating system for new concrete screeds.
Ecoflex In-screed underfloor heating cables have a rating of 15W/linear metre and are an economical solution for new screed floor constructions. The first step is to determine the number of W/m2 that you require for your installation. This could be provided by calculating the heat losses from the room you intend to heat. This figure will depend on the standard of insulation in the building.

Installation
Before Commencing, the entire sub-floor should be swept clean and be free from any sharp objects. If laying onto foil backed insulation ensure the ara is dust free to enable a good fix.
It is good practice to plan your installation using a sketch marking your laying pattern and planning the postions for the floor sensor, the connection box and thermostat.
Attatch the eco-fix band to the sub-floor or insulation using fixing nails or high impact adhesive tape. The Eco-fix bands should be spread evenly across the floor at intervals of 750mm. A 75mm border should be left around the perimeter of the room. Do not remove the cable from the drum before laying as it will twist and make the installation difficult.

The heating cables (orange cables) must not touch each other and should never cross. The heating cable must not be cut or shortened and the joint between the cold tail and the heating cable must not be bent or put under strain.

The floor sensor for the thermostat should be positioned between 2 heating cables approximately 500mm from the wall. The black flexible conduit provided should always be used to install the floor sensor probe. Once laid the heating cable should be covered with a minimum of 50mm sand and cement screed.

Before and after covering the heating cable with screed the cable resistance should be checked against the label value. Avoid traffic over the areas until the cable is completely protected. The screed should be allowed to dry completely before turning on the system. Please check screed manufacturers instructions.

A fully qualified electrician must now make the final connections to the mains supply and install the thermostat. The thermostat should be installed in the room to be heated. For bathrooms the thermostat will be a floor sensing only model and must be placed outside the room but as close to the installation as possible. Finally the electrician should check for continuity of the floor sensor and retest the resistance of the cable. A further insulation test should be carried out in accordance with IEE regulations.
The installation should be protected by a 30mA RCD for safe operation.

      <title>Depron Wood Flooring Insulation Boards 5mm thick</title>
<description>Depron Wood Flooring Insulation Boards 5mm thick

What is Depron®?

Depron is a 5mm thick insulation sheet manufactured of fully recycled material, free from freon and halogen. The sheet is produced of foamed polystyrene, a material that does not age. The cell structure in the sheet is built up of fine, closed cells that give it its excellent physical and mechanical characteristics.

An insulation capacity that saves energy

The special cell structure means that the sheet does not conduct heat. Laying Depron on the floor means that heat will instead, be effectively reflected back towards the floor surface. As "waste heat" is taken care of, you utilise energy in an effective manner and thereby lower your energy consumption.
Effective protection against damp and cold

Depron not only takes care of the heat, it is also an effective guard against the cold and damp. The material is resistant to cement, plaster and most alkalis, however, not against organic solvents. Depron is water repellent – does not rot or go mouldy. In addition the sheets have a sound insulating effect, which makes the floor "quieter" to walk on.
Increase the effect of the floor heating

The insulation sheets are easily laid between the existing floor and the floor heating foil. This gives not only a smooth and protective underlay but also increases the effect of the floor heating.

High insulation capacity
Reflects heat
Blocks out damp and cold
Step sound insulation
Environmentally friendly
Does not age
Does not rot or go mouldy
Resistant to cement, calcium, plaster, alkalis
